Setrida Geagea was born in Kumasi, Ghana, into a prominent business family. Her father, Ilias Taouk, was an entrepreneur with strong ties to West Africa. She later moved to Lebanon and studied political science at the Lebanese American University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1994. Before entering politics, Setrida had a brief modeling career.
In 1991, Setrida married Samir Geagea, the leader of the Christian Lebanese Forces militia. She became his political ally and confidante. When Samir was arrested and imprisoned by the Syrian-backed regime in 1994, Setrida assumed the leadership of the Lebanese Forces and became a vocal opponent of Syrian occupation.
Setrida Geagea played a key role in the Cedar Revolution of 2005, which ended Syrian occupation in Lebanon. She led the Lebanese Forces in anti-Syrian protests and joined the March 14 political coalition, which represented the spirit of independence and freedom.
After Samir's release from prison in 2005, Setrida Geagea was elected to the Lebanese Parliament. She has served as a member of Parliament ever since, representing the Lebanese Forces party. Her political views align with Lebanese nationalism, Christian democracy, anti-Islamism, and anti-communism.
